1. Product Details

Product Name: The HCV Antibody Test Strip

Format: Strip

Test Item: Antibody to Hepatitis C Virus

Specimen:  whole blood, serum or plasma

Storage: 2-30°C

2. Principle

The HCV Antibody Test Strip (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a qualitative, membrane based immunoassay for the detection of antibody to HCV in whole blood, serum or plasma. The membrane is coated with recombinant HCV antigen on the test line region of the strip. During testing, the whole blood, serum or plasma specimen reacts with the Protein A coated particles. The mixture migrates upward on the membrane chromatographically by capillary action to react with recombinant HCV antigen on the membrane and generate a colored line. Presence of this colored line indicates a positive result, while its absence indicates a negative result. To serve as a procedural control, a colored line will always appear at the control line region indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.

3. Directions for Use

Allow the test strip, specimen, buffer, and/or controls to equilibrate to room temperature (15-30°C) prior to testing.

(1) Remove the test strip from the sealed foil pouch and use it as soon as possible. When the room temperature is over 30 °C or the environment is humid, please use the strip as soon as you open the seal. Best results will be obtained if the assay is performed immediately after opening the foil pouch.

(2) Place the test strip on a clean and level surface. Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 1 bubble-free drops of

serum/plasma (about 30μl) or 2 bubble-free drops of venipuncture whole blood (about 60μl) into the specimen area

of the test strip, and immediately add 1 drop of buffer (about 40μl) into the well too, as shown in the figure above.

(3) Wait for the red line(s) to appear. The result should be read at 10-15 minutes and it will become invalid after more than 15 minutes.
